ATMANEYAM TRUST - OUR ROOTS
Inspired by Mother Teresa’s unparalleled service to individuals affected by leprosy, an infection everyone wanted eradicated, Mohan Srinivasan and Janaki Mohan (couple from Boston, MA, USA) along with their sons Nandakumar Mohan and Siddharth Mohan wanted to follow her example and take on tuberculosis eradication. The Trust started small through taking care of a small area Ambatur in the outskirts of Chennai. The choice is due to the fact that tuberculosis is still predominant in Ambatur. A decision was made not just to help the affected individuals through supplemental medication and nutrition, but to involve their families to become self sufficient through Women Empowerment.
